from Paula
"A dancing couple should be aware of their positional 'framework.' Their elbows should be up, not drooping down, and her arm should be placed lightly on his shoulder. Posture is important. The woman should keep her head up, never looking at her feet, supporting her own weight and not hanging on his shoulder."

FINDING A DANCE INSTRUCTOR
The goal of USA Dance is to promote ballroom dancing for amateurs of all ages. Dancing gives countless hours of enjoyment and provides physical, social and psychological benefits. The joy of dancing cannot be explained. It must be experienced. After getting started with our introductory classes, you may wish to expand your knowledge with professionally taught lessons.
But there is also “bad news.” Dance Studios have been in the news in past years for “fleecing the public”. Everyone knows this is not unique to any profession. We read constantly about scams. So a warning: Dancing need not be expensive. If you exercise diligence, you can join the many happy, satisfied dancers in our chapter. Adherence to the following recommendations may prevent you from becoming a victim:
· Get references—ask a friend or relative about their experience. Beware of hearsay or just one opinion.
· Do comparison shopping. Check out several dance studios and get prices.
· Call your local Chamber /BBB to ask about filed complaints against any studio/instructor you are considering.
Most local dance instructors and studios are hardworking, honest and dedicated. But we also recommend that you exercise sensible caution prior to signing any contract. You are encouraged to try several instructors to find one that meets your needs and who will help you meet your goals.

Dance Guide
If you don't Lead me, I'm not going to move and don't dance
me into a collision or simply forget what steps come next!
Three of the most important elements for good leading and following are: dance frame, connection and timing. A common mistake among dancers are letting the arms fall and the body collapse. Tone must be maintained in the arms and all connections points must stay intact.
Dance Tips:
- Maintain good posture and poise.
- Keep shoulders down and head up.
- Keep your eye gaze up [you will look good even if you don't know what you
are doing].
Ballroom dancing is a lifetime activity enjoyed around the world by young and old alike. It's truly a healthy form of exercise which relieves stress. Soooo.. maintain a good attitude and dance from the heart

Most men haven't learned that dancing is a sure-fire way to a women's heart. It doesn't matter what physical appearance a man has, be it ugly, muscle bound, bandy legged or the nerdy type. If he can dance, women will automatically attach endearing qualites to his nature that he never imagined. The man of a woman's dream, dances. Women have never been self-conscious about dancing; they almost always will get up and try any new step. Where were the boys all the time the girls were learning to dance? We may never know, but now is the time to catch up.
Remember it takes courage for a a man to learn to dance, but once he has learned, he can practically have his pick of the women in the room. Stay tuned for next weeks tidbit.
